A pop-up university for the netwar
I’m going to Netwar Con: A Psyops Hackathon in Austin, September 4–6, to run a pop-up university inside a culture-building experiment.
The trip is now secured at the basic logistics level: attendance is secured, flights are confirmed, and—after three attempts to book lodging—a place to sleep is confirmed.
Not a covert shill operation. Not an investment pitch. A card game for learning what tokens and NFTs are actually doing.
The game
Tokens are value-spotting. Players identify what a group appears to value, make a bounded claim, and watch whether reality agrees.
NFTs are receipts. In this game, an NFT represents a record of something that happened: a contribution, a creation, participation, or a shared moment. The wrapper is not the meaning. The receipt is.
The game lets people test the mechanism before touching a wallet. Then, if they want to, they can compare the playable version with real crypto projects and systems.
What happens at the table
1 — Pick a cultural object, idea, or small collective experiment.
2 — Make a value thesis: who might care, and why?
3 — Create a receipt for the action or contribution.
4 — Compare the prediction with what people actually did.
5 — Publish the result, including the miss.
The point is not to prove that every token is valuable. The point is to make value claims inspectable.
Why I’m going
Netwar Con describes itself as an experimental event where people come together to meet allies and enemies, design propaganda, and execute it together. I want to introduce a mechanism that makes the underlying lesson concrete:
A community can declare value. A market can test the declaration. A receipt can preserve what really happened.
Crypto is not trustworthy because someone says “trust me.” It becomes more trustworthy when the rules are visible, the claim is bounded, and the outcome survives inspection.
The examples
The table may include case cards for SPX6900, Marvin, Humanpower, BIPU, Y2K, Binder, and other projects.
These are examples for study, not a single endorsement basket. Each card should answer:
- What does this project say it is doing?
- What value is it trying to spot or coordinate?
- What is the receipt or artifact?
- Who controls the relevant mechanism?
- What would count as success?
- What would falsify the story?
If crypto is unnecessary for an idea, the game should reveal that. A spreadsheet is allowed to win. The universe has suffered enough blockchain demos that could have been a Google Form.
The travel battery
The travel-battery target is $1,000, with $100 as the first milestone.
The battery is live, but the number only moves when a contribution is recorded. Contribute whatever amount you want, if you want to help. The first use of the battery is to make Marvin portable: a working OpenHome companion that can run untethered, travel with me, and produce a documented field test rather than a polished promise.
The acceptance test is simple enough to fail honestly: state the hardware and operating assumptions, run Marvin away from the desk, record how long the system lasts, and publish what worked, what failed, and what should change.

This is an experimental token link, not a donation receipt, investment recommendation, ownership claim, or promise that token activity will fund the trip. The token can lose all value. Verify the contract address yourself before interacting, and never share a seed phrase or private key.
Donation and entropy are accounted for separately. A token page, price, market cap, or trading activity does not prove that the university was funded, that the event endorses this project, or that any real-world outcome occurred.
This is a voluntary travel-battery contribution, not an investment, token purchase, equity offering, or promise of return. Contributions do not purchase tokens, access, governance rights, profit, or guaranteed work. Crypto assets can lose all value. Do not send funds if you expect a tax deduction or a refund unless those terms are separately confirmed.
The budget, accepted contributions, documented expenses, remaining balance, and post-event report will be published separately. No fabricated progress bar. No mysterious “community treasury.” Just the ledger when there is something to ledger.
Receipts after the event
I’ll publish:
- the final travel budget and funding cap;
- the $1,000 travel-battery target, the $100 first milestone, and whether the portable OpenHome test passed;
- onchain transaction hashes for accepted contributions;
- documented expenses and remaining balance;
- the card-game rules and any revisions;
- the number of sessions and ideas tested;
- what people understood;
- what failed;
- what should not be repeated.
Any token or NFT created during the event would be a separately disclosed experiment. No private keys, artificial volume, hidden allocations, price promises, or pressure to buy.
